Pleura And Peritoneum
(ISSN 2364-768X)
About this journal
Objective: Peritoneal and pleural infections and oncological diseases often result in life-threatening conditions. However, the pleura (serous membrane, which forms the lining of the pleural cavity) and the peritoneum (serous membrane, which forms the lining of the abdominal cavity) have been relatively poorly studied, as compared to other organs. In sharp contrast to the skin, which is recognized as an organ and object of a medical specialty, pleura and peritoneum are only considered as membranes. This might be explained by the fact that these organs cannot be seen, neither by clinical examination nor by radiological methods. Pleura and Peritoneum wants to change this by creating a high-level exchange platform for basic scientists, clinical researchers and physicians – an unmet need so far.
Pleura and Peritoneum is an open access journal, focusing on the organs pleura and peritoneum. It is the official journal of the International Society for the Study of Pleura and Peritoneum (ISSPP). The journal is issued quarterly. All contributions submitted for publication are single-blind peer reviewed by at least two renowned experts in the field, selected and invited by the Editor-in-Chief. All submissions will be subject to a rapid peer-review process, allowing a first decision within 3-4 weeks of submission. Pleura and Peritoneum publishes only English-language articles and accepts research articles and short communications of experimental and clinical results, and biochemical and anatomical findings, and reviews, mini reviews, opinion papers and editorials.
No submission and article processing fees for authors. Open Access publication is funded by an unrestricted educational grant provided by Capnomed GmbH, Villingendorf, Germany. This grant plays no role in the selection and publication of the articles, nor does it influence peer review.
